Shop owner arrested for abusing WPCs,

Alawathugoda Police arrested a shop owner in front of the Alawathugoda Police station Saturday (21) who verbally sexually assaulted two WPCs who went there to buy ice-cream.

The arrested was a 28-year-old resident of Katugasthota, Uguressapitiya.

These two WPCs faced this incident after they went to the shop to buy ice-cream last Friday (20).

The two WPCs filed a complaint after returning to the Police station stating that they felt embarrassed by the shop owner’s verbal abuse. A senior Police officer said that the shop owner was arrested according to that complaint made by the two WPCs.

Police information also revealed that the Police authorities of the Central Province directed their displeasure to the higher officials in charge of the Alawathugoda Police regarding this arrest.
