Sri Lanka’s Ambassador in Israel Nimal Bandara says that it has been revealed that the Sri Lankan who was shot and injured a few days ago due to the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip had entered Israel illegally.
The Ambassador said that this person had come to Israel after paying four million rupees to human traffickers and he does not have the necessary visa to stay in Israel.
The ambassador said that he has entered Israel and was staying there without permission and therefore he is not eligible to obtain any compensation legally.
Ambassador Nimal Bandara also said that two women who are suspected to be Sri Lankans who entered Israel illegally through the Jordanian border have also been arrested.
However, no information regarding their identity has been received so far, but we are investigating whether the two women are actually Sri Lankans, he added.
