Sibling power propels Royal and Bishop’s to Diving glory

Royal College and Bishop’s College, led by sibling captains, clinched overall championships at the 47th National Age Groups Diving Championships at Sugathadasa Stadium Aquatic Complex concluded on Sunday.

Royal College, captained by Matheesha Marambe, dominated with an impressive total of 267 points. Competing in the Open category, Matheesha Marambe became triple champion in Platform Open (191.30), 3m Springboard (249.80), and 1m Springboard Open (197.40).

S Thomas’ College Mt Lavinia settled for a distant second with 22 points, followed closely by the Sri Lanka Air Force in third place with 21 points.

Meanwhile, Bishop’s College, captained by Kithmi Marambe, sister of Matheesha, made history by accumulating 165 points across all events, including 1-meter, 3-meter, and Platform. Captain Kithmi Marambe also achieved triple triumphs in 1m Springboard (251.25), 3m Springboard (245.70), and Platform (244.30).

St. Bridget’s Convent secured the runner-up position with 53 points, while Sirimavo Bandarnaike Vidyalaya took third place with 22 points.
