Sigiriya records highest tourist visits after 2018

The Central Cultural Fund’s Sigiriya project states that the largest number of foreign tourists have visited Sigiriya this year after 2018.

The Sigiriya Project Office says that more than 250,000 foreigners have visited Sigiriya so far this year.The largest number of foreign tourists who visited Sigiriya this year are from Russia.

Among the other foreign tourists who came to visit, Sigiriya are tourists from the countries like US, UK, France, India, Japan, China and Korea. The project officials say that the Central Cultural Fund will provide all the necessary infrastructure for the tourists.The Sigiriya project has earned 225,000 US dollars from the 30 US dollar tickets issued to foreign tourists. Rs.100 is charged from local tourists. Since tickets are issued at 5 in the morning to watch the sunrise from the top of Sigiriya, there is a tendency for tourists to go there in large numbers.
