Silverwood optimistic about Mathews’ inclusion

Following a training session at Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium, in Bangalore, Silverwood remarked, “Angelo Mathews’ inclusion in the squad at this moment is advantageous, and will provide us with a chance to compete effectively against other teams.”

“We have to navigate this World Cup with several players dealing with injury issues that are beyond our control. Mathews, with his experience, is a valuable all-rounder, and we have made plans for the upcoming games,” said Silverwood.

He commented on the tournament’s competitiveness, mentioning a few major upsets, saying, “This World Cup has already witnessed a few surprises, such as Afghanistan beating England, Pakistan, and the Netherlands beating South Africa. I am confident that our Sri Lankan team will perform well in the upcoming matches, and we still have a chance to progress.”

“We’ve identified some mistakes that we intend to correct promptly to put up a strong fight,” he added.
