SJB forms alliance Samagi Jana Sandhanaya
The official launch of the Samagi Jana Sandhanaya (SJS), a broad political alliance led by the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) took place at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo yesterday (8) under the theme “Samagi Ratak Samata Jayak”.
Ten political parties and groups have joined this alliance formed to appoint the SJB and Opposition Leader MP Sajith Premadasa, the Presidential candidate of the SJB, as the President of Sri Lanka in the upcoming Presidential Election. According to the SJB, this new political alliance is the country’s largest coalition that has been formed aiming at achieving Sri Lanka’s triumph.
The SJS comprises several political parties including the SJB, Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Dayasiri Jayasekera faction, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP G. L. Peiris faction, Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA) led by MP Mano Ganesan, Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) led by MP Rauff Hakeem,
National Union of Workers (NUW) led by Palani Digambaran, Upcountry People’s Front (UPF) led by V. Radhakrishnan, Freedom People’s Congress led by MP Dullas Alahapperuma and the Purawesi Handa of former MP Arjuna Ranatunga and the official signing of the agreement was done at yesterday’s launching ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, MP Sajith Premadasa said all political parties should work together in unity in order to create a strong country for the next generation of Sri Lanka.
The policies of the SJS were announced at the launching ceremony yesterday while SJB leader Sajith Premadasa was also presented as the Presidential candidate of the alliance.
