SJB organiser assaults NPP supporter refusing leaflet

A National People’s Power (NPP) supporter who refused to accept a propaganda leaflet distributed by some Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) supporters has been reportedly assaulted by Nawalapitiya SJB electorate organiser Sasanka Sampath Sanjeeva.

The SJB organiser had reportedly attacked a son of a clock repair shop owner in Nawalapitiya town and CCTV footage of the incident is available, sources said.

Sanjeeva had reportedly assaulted the person after he refused to accept a SJB propaganda leaflet inside the shop. Sanjeeva accompanied by a group of SJB supporters were distributing leaflets of their party’s candidate for the upcoming Presidential Election.

After the attack, the victim was admitted to the Nawalapitiya District General Hospital, received treatment and filed a complaint with the hospital police for his safety and left the hospital yesterday, police said.
