SJB to meet President tomorrow
The main Opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and its alliance the Samagi Jana Movement yesterday accepted the invitation extended by President Ranil Wickremesinghe to attend the National All-Party discussion scheduled to be held in Colombo on Friday August 5 (tomorrow).
SJB National Organizer Tissa Attanayaka said the objective of this meeting is to discuss important matters pertaining to the country’s main issue of solving the existing economic crisis to bring a solutions to the escalating price increase of essential food and commodity items affecting the country. SJB leader Sajith Premadasa is also expected to discuss with the President on the current shortage of fuel and gas as well.
He said the Opposition Leader is also expected to discuss with the President in regard to the severe hardships being faced by farmers, fisheries communities, goods transporters, plantation workers and workers in similar other sectors. Attanayaka said the SJB is not expected to discuss about forming an All-party Government at this crucial discussion since its main objective is to speak with President Wickremesinghe regarding the existing unbearable cost-of-living and the immediate steps that should be taken by the Government to solve the burning economic issues for the benefit of people in the country.
