SL Buddhist delegation attends World Buddhist Forum in China
Sri Lanka Buddhist Delegation led by Most Ven Karagoda Maithri Moorthi Mahanayaka thero of the Amarapura Sangha Sabawa attended 06th World Buddhist Forum held in Ningbo , China . Buddhist delegations from 72 countries took part in 06th World Buddhist Forum from 15th to 17th June in Xikou a scenic mountain city of Ningbo organised by the Buddhist Association of China under the theme “ Hand in hand For coexistence “ .
Most Ven Maithri Moorthi Mahanayaka thero addressing the 06th World Buddhist Forum reminisced the contribution made by Ven Fa Xian thero who lived in Sri Lanka for over 2 years and took Dhamma text book to China to propagate Buddhism in China and the age old Buddhist Freindship between Sri Lanka and China .
Buddhist delegates from Theravada , Mahayana and Tantryana tradition made presentations at the forum and held Buddhist prayer ceremony to bless all the people of the world .
Buddhist exhibition was inaugurated and had exhibits depicting arrival of Buddhism from India to China and historical development of Buddhism in China over period of 1800
Years . One of the highlights was the contribution made by Ven Heung San and Fa Xian thero who visited Sri Lanka over 1600 years back in search of Dhamma .
Over 800 delegates and scholars from 72 countries attended the forum .
Sri Lanka Buddhist delegation consist of Most Ven Wendaruwe Upali Anunayake thero of Asgiriya chapter , Most Ven Dimbulkumbure Wimaladhamma Anunayake thero of Malwatte chapter , Most Ven Deewela Mahinda Anunayake thero of Rammanna chapter , Most Ven Balapitiye Seewali thero Secretary General of Amarapura Sangha Sabawa , Ven Dr Kollupitiye Mahinda thero, Most Ven Dr Akuaretiye Nanda thero were among the 25 member delegation from Sri Lanka representing all four Chapters and same was organised by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China and Sri Lanka China Buddhist Friendship Association.
