SL Embassy participates in Annual Bazaar of Women’s International Club in Jakarta
The Sri Lanka’s Embassy of participated in the 55th Annual Charity Bazaar organised by the Women’s International Club in Jakarta held at the Jakarta Convention Centre this week. The primary purpose of the bazaar was to support several selected orphanages and elderly care centres across Indonesia, in addition to providing scholarships to children to continue their education without obstacles.
The Sri Lankan stall attracted numerous visitors with its exotic display of Ceylon tea, cinnamon, as well as apparel inspired by distinctive Sri Lankan cultural features such as decorated elephants, moonstone and punkalasa. Forty-two Embassies based in Indonesia, along with various business vendors operated stalls.
In conjunction with the opening ceremony of the bazaar, the Second Lady of Indonesia, Selvi Gibran Rakabuming, the spouse of Vice President Gibran, visited the Sri Lankan stall. She congratulated the Embassy staff and business representatives on their contribution to the two-day bazaar. Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Indonesia Admiral (Prof.) Jayanath Colombage presented the Second Lady with a gold-plated mini tea set that highlighted the uniqueness of Ceylon tea. Many other dignitaries including the spouses of the Ministers of Indonesia, Ambassadors from a number of nations, and their spouses visited the Sri Lanka stall.
Dilmah Tea was promoted at the bazaar in numerous ways, including being served to VIP guests during the opening ceremony. Moreover, the authentic Ceylon cinnamon was promoted at the stall, and visitors were apprised of the value of genuine Ceylon cinnamon.
