SL mixed relay team finishes seventh at World Junior Meet
The Sri Lankan Team comprising of Dilshan Bandara, Lakshima Mendis, Isuru Kaushalya and Tharushi Karunaratne returned a time of three minutes and 26.39s in the final.
This was the first time that Sri Lanka competed in the mixed relay at an international event.

Earlier, they finished in fifth place with a time of three minutes and 26.62s in the first heat and qualified for the final with a faster timing along with India, Czech Republic, Jamaica and Poland. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s Medhani Jayamanne was knocked-out of the semi-finals of the Women’s 100m after she finished seventh with a time of 11.96s.
Earlier, she became the only Asian to run in the Women’s 100m semi-finals having finished sixth in the heats with a time of 12.01s. In contrast, Sri Lanka’s Isuru Kaushalya missed the chance of competing in the Men’s 400m final when he finished seventh with a time of 48.02s in the heats.
Shanika Lakshani and Karunaratne will compete in the Women’s 800m heats today.
