SL will not face an economic crisis again due to current reforms – Shehan Semasinghe

0 0

Acting Finance Minister Shehan Semasinghe said yesterday in Parliament that Sri Lanka will never face an economic crisis again due to the current economic reform programme undertaken by the government. However, the Opposition is trying to derail this programme by creating an aura of uncertainty among the people.

We are on the verge of a Presidential election. Therefore, some political parties are trying to take the country back to the state it was in, in the year 2022, even after the serious crises faced by the people have been alleviated over the past two years.

The Opposition alleges that the change in the government’s tax system in 2020 is a major cause of this economic crisis. The SJB announced the tax rate will be reduced to 24 percent when it comes to power.

But if this is implemented, our country will again go to an era of queues. We urge the SJB to not commit this crime. Do not lead this country to an era of defeat again. That is why these two Bills are presented to Parliament. If anyone opposes this, this country will definitely go back into an era of long queues for everything again.
