SL Women win 4x100m relay Silver

The Sri Lanka Women’s 4X100m Relay Team secured the Silver Medal at the 60th Inter-State Athletics Championships, which concluded in Patiala, India yesterday.

The Sri Lanka Relay Team composed of Lakshika Sugandi, Shelinda Jansen, Amasha de Silva and Medhani Jayamanne returned a time of 44.55s to finish second. India won the Gold Medal in this event with a time of 44.15s.

Meanwhile, Nilani Ratnayake won the Bronze Medal in the Women’s 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 10.12.12s. In addition, Sumedha Ranasinghe took the Bronze Medal in the Men’s javelin throw with a performance of 77.28m.

Kalinga Kumarage went on to win the Silver Medal in the Men’s 200m with a time of 21.13s while Medhani Jayamanne also won the Silver Medal with a time of 24.08s. (D.R)
