SLA to mark Centenary Year with a series of events

Sri Lanka Athletics (SLA) are planning to implement three sports development study projects in the next four months under the SLA 100th Anniversary Programme, scheduled for 2022.

According to the Vice-President SLA G. L. S Perera, the three main projects mainly focus on women’s athletic administration and athletics leadership and all these programmes are to be conducted online while applications should be submitted through affiliated associations.

The women’s athletics administration programme will be held from September 4 to 26 while the youth athletics leadership programme will be conducted in October/November 2021. The third program, athletics leadership for the South Asian region will be conducted in January 2022.

In conjunction with this anniversary, a number of programmes such as the development programme for senior and young coaches, affiliate association member development programme, the senior and junior pool athletes’ development programme and the sports programme for sports journalists will be held in the future.

Meanwhile, applications for the women’s sports administration programme have already been called. In addition a number of major international competitions will be held in 2022 and a special programme will be launched in this regard.
