The Sri Lanka College of Oncologists (SLCO) has organised SLCO Academic Sessions 2023 to be held on October 13 to 15 to celebrate its 20th anniversary.
Emeritus Professor Janaka De Silva, a luminary in the field of medicine and former Director of the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine, Kelaniya University, will preside over the ceremony.
This year’s theme is, ‘Resilience, Innovation and Excellence’. The focus is on achieving and maintaining the highest standards of patient care through innovative thinking, even in the face of the country’s challenges. The sessions will encompass a broad spectrum of cancer care, ranging from fundamental sciences to applied oncology, onco-surgery and supportive care, while also integrating patient perspectives into cancer care strategies.
The event is expected to draw over 300 delegates, including physicians, nurses, physicists, pharmacists and radiotherapy technicians involved in cancer patient care. These delegates will have the unique opportunity to engage with a panel of globally recognized international and local faculty, who will lead the academic programmes. As SLCO commemorates two decades of dedication to cancer care, these sessions exemplify the organisation’s commitment to advancing cancer treatment and improving the lives of patients.
