Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Parliamentarians are expected to meet Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today to discuss their proposals.
“SLFP Leader Maithripala Sirisena had written to the new Prime Minister yesterday regarding his party’s decision,” informed sources said.
The SLFP yesterday postponed their scheduled Central Committee meeting which had been convened to discuss whether or not to support the new Government under President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Badulla District Parliamentarian Chamara Sampath Dassanayake of the SLFP had stated yesterday he will extend support to the new Prime Minister irrespective of his party’s decision on the matter.
Meanwhile, members of the 10 constituent parties of the Government who became independent in Parliament have also sought a meeting with the new Prime Minister today.
