SLPP’s bond with government is only to protect the State unconditionally – Prof. Ranjith Bandara
Parliamentarian Prof. Ranjith Bandara said that Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) party is not a political party aimed at personal gains and their political activities are directed towards common goals.
He said this while attending the press conference held yesterday (20) at the SLPP party headquarters in Colombo.
He further said that the SLPP never believed in any other option than victory. That is why the party works with the basic objective of ‘Conquering Challenges and Aspirations’. “We are a political party that considers protecting the State as our primary responsibility. We do not drive victory for personal gain. Our political career is directed towards common goals. Personally, we all must have had some difficulties. We may have suffered some setbacks as a party. But we are a political movement that always aims for victories and moves forward with set goals. Therefore, the leader of this political movement is only someone who does politics under the promise of protecting the State,” he added.
Prof. Bandara said that the SLPP is directly in touch with the party members for the purpose of the party. Moves have been taken to recruit new members to the party. He added that the bond the party has with the government is only a bond to protect the State unconditionally. Bandara noted that their party leader MP Mahinda Rajapaksa intervened and solved the lasting problems of this country. Those problems existed even when Rajapaksa came to power in 2005.
“These are issues that have been stagnating for 20 to 25 years. Those issues are raising their heads again today. There are no short-term solutions to poverty. It is not possible to confirm the living conditions and standard of living of the poor people of this country. We need to find answers to unemployment. We need to talk about these facts. As a party, we constantly fight for equal opportunities in education,” he added.
