Snacks denied for drug lords despite Court order – Attorney

Attorney Yvonne Nirasha said before Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage yesterday (9), that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is not working as per the orders given by Court to provide light meals to the three underworld drug lords including Sellapperumage Salindu Gunaratne alias Kudu Salindu and Wickremaratne Kasun Chinthaka alias Harak Kata who are being detained under the protection of the CID.

Filing a motion, the lawyer said that the suspects who are being detained and are being

interrogated for leading underworld gang members in Sri Lanka while abroad, murder, drug trafficking, and organised crime and obstructing national security and public order, are not being

provided with snacks as per court orders and they do not allow the 30-minute time period allowed to meet the suspects either.

The Magistrate said that he would take steps to issue necessary orders in this regard after carrying out an inspection and observation visit in the upcoming days.

Underworld strongmen Sellapperumage Salindu Gunaratne alias Kudu Salindu and Wickremaratne Kasun Chintaka alias Harak Kata and Thevarasage Amila Susira Fernando alias Panadura Chutte alias Tintin are being detained in the custody of the Public Complaints Division of the Criminal Investigation Department.
