Sniper who plotted to free drug lords further remanded

Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage yesterday ordered to remand a former military soldier who was detained for 30 days under the Prevention of Terrorism Act and questioned for plotting to help drug traffickers Wikramamaratne Kasun Chintaka alias Harak Kata and Salindu Malshika Gunaratne alias Kudu Salindu to escape CID custody until December 20.

Inspector Senaratne, from the CID, informed Court that the investigations revealed that the suspect Army soldier was trained in sniper attacks.

Presenting the suspect he told Court that the suspect had committed several crimes after the training.
