Some SJB members meet me at night – Vajira

Some members of Samagi Jana Balawegaya meet me during the night time to discuss certain matters, UNP MP Vajira Abeywardena told SJB General Secretary Ranjith Maddumabandara in parliament yesterday (18).

MP Abeywardena stated so when MP Ranjith Maddumabandara raised a question during the former’s speech at the Second Reading debate on the 2023 budget proposals.

MP Ranjith Maddumabandara asked, “As the Chairman of the UNP, you hold disciplinary investigations against our MPs. You remove our members. Then you come here and ask for our support and say let us work together. Aren’t these double standards?”

MP Vajira Abeywardena replied, “We cannot solve the matter regarding our opinions simply by running investigations. That is why we sent an affidavit to all these 1000 members to sign in and get the problem solved. Discipline is extremely important for any political Party. It is important for you just as much as for me. Some of your members come to meet me during the nighttime. I discuss these matters with them when they meet me.”
