Southern Province schools to reopen tomorrow

Education Ministry of Southern Province has decided to reopen the schools that were closed today due to the adverse weather conditions in the Galle and Matara districts.

Its director told that schools in Matara and Galle districts have been closed since last Thursday (5) due to the adverse weather.

All arrangements have been made to reopen these schools. However, no decision has been taken to conduct extra classes to cover the missing school days, but it was decided to cover the teachings during the day.

Schools that used to be safe locations for affected people have now been removed. Decisions will be made for the studies of the students whose schools are still under floods in the future, the Provincial Education Ministry said.
