Special holidays for Kandy schools due to Esala Perahera
Considering the large number of people coming to Kandy for the Esala Perahera, authorities have declared August 28, 29, 31 as holidays to all schools within Kandy city limits, to avoid any inconvenience to students.
The Provincial Education Ministry and the Provincial Education Department have taken this decision on the advice of Central Province Governor Lalith U. Gamage, who directed that, schools have lessons on three Saturdays, to cover these three holidays.
Holidays have been declared in schools located from Kandy city to Katugastota bridge, Peradeniya bridge and Gannoruwa junction, and from Lake round to Ampitiya and Thananekumbura bridge. In addition, holidays have also been declared in Dodamwala Royal Primary School, Bowalawatta and Hantana schools.
