Special SLFP Fund to help COVID-19 affected

SLFP General Secretary and Batik, Handloom Fabrics and Local Apparel Products State Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara told the Daily News today that the SLFP has set up a Special Fund to help those affected by COVID-19.

He said the SLFP was collecting donations for the fund to help victims of this pandemic. All SLFP Parliamentarians have already donated Rs.100,000 each to this fund.

“All SLFP Provincial Council, Pradeshiya Sabha and Urban Council members have consented to make donations to this Fund to help the people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic,” State Minister Jayasekara said.

“Rs.7 million rupees has already been contributed by donors to this Fund set up by the SLFP,” he told the Daily News.

Meanwhile, 125,000 families affected by the Quarantine Curfew in the Kurunegala District have received the Rs.2,000 allowance.

Kurunegala District Secretary R. M. Rathnayake said the Government has allocated Rs.250 million for this purpose
