SPMC to buy Saline from local company from August

The State Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Corporation (SPMC) has taken measures to procure normal Saline and other basic injection solutions through a local company. Co-Cabinet Spokesman Plantation Minister Dr.Ramesh Pathirana said the Cabinet of Ministers granted consent to the proposal tabled by the Health Minister to enter into an agreement for the State Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Corporation to procure basic injection solutions required for institutions under the Health Ministry from Kelun Life Sciences (Pvt) Limited.

He was speaking at the weekly Cabinet media briefing held at the Government Information Department yesterday. Their manufacturing plant will be set up in Pallekelle with a manufacturing the capacity of 43 million bottles of basic injection solutions per annum including Normal Saline, Dextrose Solution, Hartmann Solution and Mannitol Solution.

The Approval of the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency has been received for the said factory and its manufacturing.The said plant has planned to supply its manufacturing to the market from August 2021.
