The University of Sri Jayewardenepura (SJP) emerged as the undisputed champions, securing victory in all three categories – Boys, Girls, and Overall – in the 2023 14th Sri Lanka University Games (SLUG). The intense two-month-long annual competition, featuring 16 state universities across Sri Lanka, concluded yesterday.
SJP’s remarkable performance saw them amass a total of 411.5 points, with 228.5 points in the Boys’ category and 183 points in the Girls’ category. This impressive feat earned them the coveted title of Overall Champions in the fiercely contested 21-game tournament.
Moratuwa University (MOR) claimed the title of Overall Runners-up, accumulating a commendable 346.5 points. MOR’s performance was highlighted by 207.5 points in the Boys’ category and 139 points in the Girls’ category. The University of Colombo (COL) secured the Third Place, showcasing their prowess with a total of 332.5 points. Their impressive performance included 192.5 points in the Boys’ category and 140 points in the Girls’ category.
In addition to their Overall triumph, MOR clinched the Boys’ Runners-up title, adding another feather to their cap. The title of Girls’ Runners-up went to the University of Sabaragamuwa (SAB), who secured 155 points.
The University of Colombo’s excellence was further underscored as they claimed both the Boys’ and Girls’ Third Place titles.
