Sri Lanka cannot be developed through party politics -Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka
Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka yesterday said that he will end the corruption in the country and maintain law and order after he becomes president. He added that the present parliament cannot solve the issues faced by the country.
He was speaking at a press conference to announce his candidacy to contest the upcoming presidential election in Battaramulla yesterday. He said that many countries which achieved massive development had a charismatic leader with dynamic vision. “Sri Lanka cannot be developed through party politics”, he said. He was of the view that many members in the parliament do not have proper understanding about the real situation in the country.
He said that he resigned from the post of SJB organizer for Kelaniya. He said that he had issues with the party after the Opposition Leader hesitated to accept the country after former President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa resigned from his post.
However, he said that he does not have any intention to support the National People’s Power either.
