Sri Lanka classic car rally launched
Destination Rally together with Authencities (Pvt) ltd organized the Sri Lanka classic car rally from January 17 to 30 2023. Seventeen different kinds of classic cars from Austria, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Europe and Scotland were temporarily imported under the Carnet de Passage permit and with the assistance of the Automobile Association of Ceylon, they were registered with the registrar of motor vehicles to driveon Sri Lanka roads.
At the starting point, Waikkal, several VIP dignitaries and officials graced this colourful ceremony. Devapriya Hettiarachchi, secretary and Chithralal Liyanasuriya chief engineer both from the automobile association flaged off the cars at the start. The rally will cover Anuradhapura, Trincomalee, Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya, Kandy, Nuwera – Eliya, Wellawaya, Yala, Weligama, Galle and back to Colombo and cover a total mileage of 1,700 km. The intention of the organizers was to promote more tourists to the island.
