This was a magnificent performance from the young Sri Lankan outfit as they came from behind to snatch the series after five unsuccessful attempts in this format of the game.
Sri Lanka, of course, conceded the first match of the three-match series to India by 38 runs but hit back with a vengeance to clinch the second game by four wickets and the deciding third encounter by a convincing margin of seven wickets.
The home side also brought an end to India’s dominance in this format after they had emerged victorious in their previous eight bilateral series.
The hero of the Sri Lankan Team was dynamic all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga who enjoyed a fantastic series with both bat and ball.
The leg-spinner played a huge role as he returned career-best figures in the third and final match to finish with the series as the highest wicket-taker.
The other significant performance came from paceman Dushmantha Chameera and Skipper Dasun Shanaka who played their hearts out on the field.
In the batting department Dhananjaya de Silva was solid and always held the middle-order together with a determined performance.
His best effort probably came in the third and final T20I where he smashed an unbeaten 40 to steer Sri Lanka towards their target with ease.
Wicket-keeper opening batsman Minod Bhanuka was also impressive as he tried hard to get the side off to a good start against some quality spin bowling.
