Sri Lanka confident of hosting Asia Cup, says Ashley

We are expected to receive a positive response about forthcoming Asia Cup as Sri Lanka can host the forthcoming Asia Cup T-20 cricket tournament said Chief Executive officer of the Sri Lanka Cricket (CEO of SLC) Ashely de Silva yesterday.

Most probably we can get a final decision from the Asian Cricket Council this week end and are confident of hosting the Asia Cup despite the difficulties said the CEO .

We hope the country’s situation could be back to normal very soon and we can carry out our scheduled cricket itinerary without any obstacle said Ashely de Silva the CEO and former National wicket. keeper .

We have conducted Australian full cricket series (T-20, ODI and Test ) with out any problem and we must thank the Sri Lankans for their fullest support to make it a success and hope for their continued support said Ashely de Silva .

SLC has already given their fullest support to the Government such as proceeds from ticket sales of Australian series donated through Sports Ministry while the foreign guests and local guests were accommodated in hotels at Colombo ,Kandy and Galle and the income through these activities is very important during this hard period .

Meanwhile SLC Secretary Mohan de Silva said “We will leave it to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to make the announcement but our board president Shammi Silva has informed Jay Shah, the president of ACC, about our preparations to hold the event,” said Mohan de Silva, secretary of the SLC

Meanwhile there is a rumour that LPL which is scheduled to commence on August 1 will be postponed ,The CEO said we have no idea about this and plan to play the second test at R.Premadasa International cricket stadium in Colombo from July 24 .At the moment we are in a position to do everything as scheduled said Ashley de Silva the CEO of SLC
