The Sri Lanka Customs Department has generated Rs. 1.3737 trillion in revenue during the period up to June 30 this year, exceeding its revenue target for the first six months.
Customs Media Spokesman and Senior Director Chandana Punchihewa said the department surpassed its revenue target for the first half of the year, which ended on June 30.
The department had been assigned a revenue target of Rs. 1.0605 trillion for the first six months of the year but exceeded it by collecting an additional Rs. 313 billion.
Sri Lanka Customs has been assigned a total revenue target of Rs. 2.206 trillion for 2026. Punchihewa expressed confidence that the department would be able to surpass last year’s record total revenue collection of Rs. 2.5 trillion if the current performance continues.
For July, the department has been given a revenue target of Rs. 192.4 billion. Of that, it has already collected Rs. 31 billion within the first two days of the month.
However, Punchihewa noted that revenue from vehicle imports has declined due to restrictions on motor vehicle imports. (Newswire)
