Sri Lanka in thrilling win over Malaysia

Sri Lanka Netball team led by Gayanjali Amarawansa scored a thrilling 55-53 win over Malaysia in the second round game of the Asian Netball championship played in Singapore yesterday.

It was a fine team effort while from the first quarter both teams gave a superb display in the tournament .In fact this match is the most thrilling game so far in this tournament.

Malaysia was leading the first quarter 15/13 but both sides finished the second quarter 30 all with a good come back by the Sri Lankan lasses.

Skipper Gayanjali Amarawansa, Dulangi Wannithilleka the deputy skipper and experienced goal shooter Tharjani Shivalingam were producing fine performance to equal the scores after second quarter.

Sri Lankan team dominated the third quarter while collecting their points more comfortably to get a lead while and finished third quarter 45-38 with a clear lead of seven points.

Once again the fourth and final quarter saw a close fight but Sri Lankan showed good fighting skills to win the game with two points lead 55-53.

Victoria Lakshmi the President of the Sri Lanka Netball Federation said she was very happy to see this type of close competition ..This type of matches are important to get good exposure added Netball chief .We can see high class games after the second round and our first task is to enter the final said Netball President. Sri Lanka will meet Singapore the two finalists of the last 2018 championship today at the same venue in Singapore.
