Sri Lanka meet Jamaica in Netball WC

Sri Lanka Netball team led by Gayanjali Amarawansa will meet Jamaica in their first game of the World Cup Netball today in Cape town, South Africa commencing at 6pm (South Africa time).

It is going to be a tough game for Sri Lanka while world ranked fourth team Jamaica will battle with world ranked 15th team Sri Lanka and this first game exposure is vital for next matches said Sri Lanka head coach Thilaka Jinadasa.

Sri Lanka Netball team had successful training session at Botswana where they played three practice matches to adjust to the conditions. Sri Lanka team skipper Gayanjali Amarawansa, deputy skipper Dulangi Wannitilleka, former skipper Chaturangi Jayasuriya, Semini Alwis, Gayani Dissanayake and Asian best Goal Shooter Tharjini Shivalingam are the key players of the side.

After Jamaica game Sri Lanka will play with their other group matches against South Africa and world ranked 11th Wales.

There are 16 teams battling for World Cup and Sri Lanka and Singapore are the only two Asian countries in the tournament.
