Sri Lanka must adopt a social market economic vision based on justice, fairness – SJB MP

If Sri Lanka wants to come forward as a country with a growing economy in the Asian region, it needs to adopt a social market economic vision based on justice and fairness as well as market competitiveness, Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Dr. Harsha De Silva said.Sri Lanka can learn a lesson from the economic progress of Tamil Nadu state, the MP in the press conference held in Colombo.

He said that the state of Tamil Nadu has been working to produce and export high-tech goods such as electric vehicles, vehicles and telephone spare parts for the customers of high-income countries and through this has managed to maintain a high economic growth of 14 percent. The MP emphasised that Sri Lanka can enter such a fast economic growth path and for that everyone should change their way of thinking.

“Our economic growth is negative 3.5. The President has said that this country will be developed by 2048. To get there, the country’s economy needs to grow by about 6.5 percent per year.
