Sri Lanka Women to defend SABA title in Maldives
Sri Lanka will launch their defence for the South Asian Basketball Association (SABA) Women’s Championship when they take on Bhutan in their opening fixture at the Social Centre in Male City, Maldives today.
Sri Lanka will once again start as the favourites to retain the title after having emerged unbeaten champions in the inaugural tournament held in Kathmandu, Nepal in 2016.

The opening match of this four-nation tournament between the hosts Maldives and the 2016 runners-up Nepal was played last night.
Sri Lanka’s second match of the tournament will be against Nepal on Tuesday and the third and last match of the preliminary round will be against Maldives on Wednesday.
This time the Sri Lanka Women’s Basketball Team will be Captained by Anjalee Ekanayake with Anne Stephanie as the Vice-Captain.
The rest of the team includes Benika Thalagala, Sasanthi Samarasinghe, Lubna Morseth, Taniya Perera, Chalani Perera, Keyasha Siriwardana, Kamalene Mills, Minoli Direckesz, Hazeena Abdul and Washington Clay.
