Sri Lanka Youth team out to clinch series

Sri Lanka under 19 youth team will meet West Indies under 19 team in their second and final four day game which will commence today (12) at the Rangari Dambulla International Cricket Stadium.

Sri Lanka youth team led by Sineth Jayawardena want to win this game after lot of positives in the last four day game which ended in a draw at the same venue but Sri Lanka team took major honours with first innings win.

Dinura Kalupahana the all rounder from Mahinda College hit his career best unbeaten 150 while Malsha Tharupathi stroked 61 and inform Pulindu Perera hit 71 in the first innings while Ravishan Nethsara stroked fifty in the second innings but skipper Sineth Jayawardena couldn’t givea good batting display but he could come back in this game said Sri Lanka under 19 team Manager Jayantha Seneviratne. We have good all round side and already we beat West Indies under 19 2-1 .Our players potential are very high while their commitment is good and we already focused on next under 19 world cup which is scheduled to be held next January in our country and this series give much needed exposure said Manager Jayantha Seneviratne.

Sri Lanka youth team is expected to make a few changes to test few other players while Junior selection committee headed by Ranjith Madurasinghe and Waruna Waragoda and S.H.U Karnain are with the team to observe their performance at Dambulla.

Meanwhile West Indies under 19 side led by Nathan Sealy is expected to put up a good challenge at this game. Jordan Johnson who hit 149 in the first four day game while Joshua Dorne ,opener Adrian Weir are in good form during the series and their pacemen having good speed wanted to make an early breakthrough to add more pressure.

Yesterday both teams had successful training sessions and today they will finalize their final eleven.
