Sri Lankan women’s cricket team led by Chamari Atapattu left yesterday to take part in the Pakistan cricket series which will commence from May 24. The tour consists of three T-20’s and 3 ODI’s while all matches will be played in Karachchi.

Hashan Tillakaratne the head coach of the Sri Lanka women’s cricket team said the Pakistan tour is a historical one at this hard time and this is going to be a good battle between the two teams. Sri Lanka women’s cricket team made good preparation for this tour. “Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has organised this tour earlier and due to logistic issues, it had to be postponed. Due to this hard period, we all appreciate SLC for organizing this tour for the women’s cricketers,” added Head coach Tillakaratne.

Our women’s cricketers have good training sessions as well as practice matches focusing on this tour and even the day before the departure we had a T-20 practice match at Welisara.

The youngsters are really good and with the experienced players like skipper Chamari Atapattu, Inoka Ranaweera, Nilakshi Silva, Ama Kanchana, Oshadi Ranasinghe, Udeshika Prabodhani we can pose a good challenge against the Pakistan team,” said Tillekaratne the former Sri Lanka men’s team skipper.
