Sri Lanka's leading trading company Cargills offers Greenhouse Gas Emissions certification to three dairy segments
The Ministry of Environment today (22nd) awarded the Greenhouse Gas Verification Certificates to Cargills, one of Sri Lanka’s leading commercial companies, for producing quality milk at Bogahawatta, Kotmale Dairy.
Dr. Anil Jasinghe, Secretary to the Ministry of Environment presided over the event, which was also attended by Saranga Wijesundera, Managing Director, Cargills and Nimal Gunaratne, Group Manager, Dairy Products.
The awarding of these certificates was organized by the Climate Fund of the Ministry of Environment.
Commenting on the event, Dr. Anil Jasinghe said, “We appreciate Cargills’ initiative to take the initiative to voluntarily assess the quality of dairy products and Kotmale Dairy products to their carbon emissions.
He thanked the Cargills Company for setting an example to other institutions by taking responsible corporate initiatives to protect the environment at a time when climate change and carbon emissions reduction are of paramount importance.
