Forty eight year old, Ravindra Jaliya Wilathgamuwa, a fine Cricketer and Level Two Cricket coach had his early education at Sri Rahula College, Katugastota and later at Kingwood College, Kandy to improve his studies and Cricket as well.

According to him, he had got through the Level one Sri Lanka Cricket coaching in 1995 and Level Two S/L Coaching Certificate in the year 2016 and a Full member of the Level Five Cricket Umpire of Association Cricket Umpires and a past member of Association of Professional Cricket Umpires.

Ravindra has captained the School under 13 and Under 15 Cricket teams and played for the under 17 and 19st XI teams at Sri Rahula college and he has won the Astra Margarine award for the ‘Best Bowler’ in the All Island Cricket Tournament in 1987 and won the School Cricket Trophy in 1987 and has played for the School Rugby and Football teams, participated at Athletics too at Sri Rahula College, Katugastota.

He started Cricket at Under 13 level under the coaching of late T.M.A. Cooray and Aubrey Kuruppu and his best bowling feat was claiming 3 wickets for 35 runs when playing for Kandy Youth CC in the Division. One Cricket tournament and his best batting performance was scoring 112 for Cosbees CC in the Div. three tourney organized by the Kandy District Cricket Association. At School level his bowling feat was bagging Seven wickets for 12 runs against Maurapada Central in 1986 at Division three level.

After leaving School while he continued playing Cricket he was interested in Coaching too and as a Level II S/l Cricket coach in 2016 he was appointed the head coach of Poramadulla Central School for three years and after that he joined Nugawela Central School as the Head coach for more than five years from 2003 to 2008 and according to him he has produced Cricketers like Saranga Rajaguru who has played for the Sri Lanka Under 19 Cricket team. From 2011 to 2012 he has been the head coach of Azhar Central College, Akurana and head coach of St.Anne’s, Kurunegala from 2014 to 2015.

After some time he joined St. Thomas’College, Bandarawela as the head coach from 2016 to 2018 and in the meantime as he stated he has coached Foreign Cricket teams as well i.e. Raju Cricket Club in Hydrabad,India in 2012 and for one year at Paksharma School in Doha, Quatar.

At present Ravindra is Coaching at Sarasavi Uyana National School, Peradeniya and Madeena Central College, Madawala and as a Professional Umpire he is involved in Umpiring too.
