SriLankan Airlines, BIA not a burden on taxpayers – PM

Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena stated in Parliament yesterday (08) that many measures have been taken to maintain SriLankan Airlines and the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) so as not to burden the tax-paying people of the country.

He said this while replying to a question from Samagi Jana Balawegaya Member of Parliament Hesha Withanage under the questions to the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister emphasised that many measures have been taken, such as limiting foreign travel, training, procurement and purchases and recruitment to only what is essential and suspending salary revisions and allowance payments.
