SriLankan to fly Jeddah thrice weekly
A ceremony was held at the King Abdulaziz International Airport Jeddah recently to mark the recommencement of direct flight operations between Colombo and Jeddah, after a lapse of 4 years. The event was attended by the Airport and Aviation authorities, service providers and the Sri Lankan Consulate.
The Consul General Falah Al Habshi and Area Manager of Western Region Saudi Arabia for Sri Lankan Airlines Ishfaaq Uvaim were recognised for their efforts in re-establishing the much needed direct link between the two key hubs. The circumstances have turned favourable to the Sri Lankan community to fulfill their travel needs, with the resumption of operations. SriLankan direct flights from Colombo to Jeddah will be a thrice weekly service operating every Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday.
SriLankan Airlines is currently the only carrier to offer a non-stop flight schedule between the two cities, opening a convenient gateway to the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah for Umrah pilgrims in Sri Lanka once again.
