SSC overcome Chillaw Marians SC at Major Clubs L/O Cricket
SSC, led by Nipun Dhananjaya fought back to win against Chillaw Marians SC, maintaining their top slot in the group in a Major Clubs Limited Overs Cricket Tournament fixture played at SSC grounds yesterday.
SSC scored 285 for 6 wickets in 50 overs without their national players. Shevon Daniel (63), Krishan Sanjula (51) and Ranuda Somaratne (65) hit half-centuries.
Chillaw Marians CC managed to post a total of 188 all out in 41.2 overs with with Chamod Sandaru leading the scoring with 69 runs. Kavindu Nadeeshan was the most successful spinner of SSC taking 3 for 58 while Dhanishka Gunatilleka and Prabath Jayasuriya contributed by claiming two wickets each, steering SSC to victory.
Meanwhile, NCC opener Niroshan Dickwella played a fluent innings of 115, guiding NCC to a seven-wicket victory over Ace Capital CC in their match played at NCC grounds yesterday.
Baduraliya SC clinched a thrilling five-run victory over Bloomfield in a match held at Bloomfield grounds. Meanwhile, Ragama CC and Colts CC secured comfortable wins against Moors SC and Tamil Union, respectively.
Tamil Union was dismissed for a mere 76 runs, and Colts CC successfully chased the target with 3 wickets in hand. Colts CC’s Kavishka Anjula claimed 5 for 25, while paceman Shiran Fernando took 5 for 22 for Tamil Union.
Moors SC faced a disappointing outing, being bundled out for 74, and Ragama CC efficiently reached the target in 14.3 overs. Opener Nishan Madushka played a pivotal role with a match-winning innings of 51, securing an easy win for Ragama CC.
