Finance State Minister Dr. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said that State banks will be open today (30), even though it is a public holiday, to pay the Aswesuma subsidy to the people. He also said that there has been good response to a request to keep the State banks open even on Poya day when it is time to meet the financial needs of the people. Rs.5 billion has already been allocated by the Government for the first installment of the Aswesuma welfare benefit. Payments will be facilitated to the public through State banks. Accordingly, State Minister Siyambalapitiya said that Bank of Ceylon (BoC), People’s Bank and Regional Development Bank (RDB) branches will be kept open today.
