The preliminary discussion about the arrangements for the State Vesak festival to be held in Hambantota was held yesterday at the Naigala Ancient temple led by the Minister Wedaarachchi
The government has decided to hold this year’s State Vesak Festival 2016 in Hambantota with the ancient Naigala Raja Maha Viharaya being the focal point of the activities.
This decision has been taken following a request made to the President, Prime Minister and the Buddha Sasana Minister by Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Minister of Development Minister Dilip Wedaarachchi who is also the Chairman of the Hambantota District Development Committee.
The preliminary discussion about the arrangements for the State Vesak festival to be held in Hambantota was held yesterday at the Naigala Ancient temple led by the Minister Wedaarachchi. The chief incumbent of the temple and the executive member of the Eksath Bhikshu Peramuna Ven Muruthuwala Kasyapa Thera and several Nayaka Theras of the District were also present at the discussion.
Housing and Construction Minister Sajith Premadasa also had wholeheartedly supported the decision.
This will be the first State Vesak Festival to be held in the district.
