STF nets 897 more suspects as ‘Yukthiya’ pressure keeps mounting

Another 897 suspects have been arrested by the Police Special Task Force (STF) during the countrywide special operation ‘Yukthiya’.

According to the Ministry of Public Security, these arrests were made during multiple raids that were conducted between 12:30 a.m. on January 10 (yesterday) until 12:30 a.m. today.

The Police also recovered 295.5 grams of Heroin, 685.93 grams of ICE, 72 Kg and 970 grams of Cannabis, 6.4 grams of Opium, 2,113 Cannabis plants, 05 Cannabis cigars, 361.4 grams of Mawa, 21.5 grams of Tul, 665 Narcotic pills, 08 grams of Ash and 61 grams of Madana Modaka.

Out of the total of 897 suspects that were arrested during the special operation, 23 suspects are being investigated further on detention orders.

A total of 19 suspects found to be addicted to narcotics have been transferred to rehabilitation centres.

Also, 31 suspects who were on the list of registered suspects of the Police Narcotics Bureau and the Special Bureau were arrested in this operation.
