Suicide bomber’s father released

He had been in remand prison for nearly two years in connection with the Easter Sunday attacks.

The Magistrate directed the Attorney General to release the suspect as he was no longer being prosecuted. Earlier, the CID had sought the advice of the Attorney General on how to proceed in the case.

Accordingly, the Attorney General had informed the CID that no further action would be taken against the suspect as no evidence had been presented against him.

The suspect, who was remanded for nearly two years, was acquitted of all charges on the advice of the Attorney General.
