Sunday “Seethawaka Odyssey” on Saturdays as well
The “Seethawaka Odyssey” tourist train to the Seethawaka tourist zone, will operate on Saturdays as well, beginning from tomorrow.
The “Seethawaka Odyssey” tourist train is operated on Sundays, jointly by the Western Province Tourism Board (WPTB) and the Sri Lanka Railway Department.
Due to the high tourists’ demand created by the success of this service, which operated only on Sundays, for more than six months, the WPTB has decided to operate it on Saturdays as well, as the “Shanida Seethawaka Odyssey”, said WPTB Chairman Sugath Hewapathirana.
Hewapathirana said that, by operating this train on Saturday and Sunday, local and foreign tourists will have the opportunity to transform a day outing into a full tour with a night stay in the Seethawaka Tourist Zone.
He further pointed out that this would enhance foreign exchange earnings by promoting little-known tourist destinations within the Western Province to foreign tourists, while attracting local tourists as well.
