Sunil Jayalath appointed Sabaragamuwa PC Chief Secretary

Sunil Jayalath assumed duties as the Chief Secretary of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council yesterday at the Provincial Council in Ratnapura.

Sabaragamuwa Province Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa handed over the letter of appointment to Jayalath at the Governor’s Office.

Sunil Jayalath graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Kelaniya in 1984 and has been teaching for several years.

He joined the Sri Lanka Administrative Service in 1987 and has served as the Divisional Deputy Chairman, Divisional Secretary of Mahavilachchiya, Kahatagasdegiliya, Mihintale and Rambukkana Divisional Secretariats. He later served as the Secretary of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Public Service Commission, Additional District Secretary of Gampaha. Prior to his appointment as the Chief Secretary of the Sabaragamuwa Province, he served as the Gampaha District Secretary.

Jayalath was appointed to the post after the retirement of former Chief Secretary Ranjani Jayakody of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council.

Deputy Registrar of the Gampaha District Sasanarakshaka Authority Ven. Maligawatte Dhammarama Thera and Coordinator of Buddhist Affairs of the Gampaha District Secretariat Ven. Henpita Mulle Susila Thera conducted religious services on the occasion.
