Suspect held for lottery ticket scam

The Wariyapola Police has managed to uncover a fraudulent racket of obtaining money by printing fake winning lottery tickets and giving them to lottery stalls.

Information about this racket has been revealed during the interrogation of a person who gave six lottery tickets with Rs.2,000 wins to lottery dealers in and around Wariyapola Town and got money.

The arrested person is a 31-year-old resident of Ja-Ela Dadugama. During questioning, he has said that a person residing in Kekirawa gave him these lottery tickets to get them cashed.

Two lottery dealers in Wariyapola had tipped off the Police about this person.

When the concerned person was taken into custody by the Police and checked, they found three more fake lottery tickets in his possession.

Investigations have also revealed that this person has given six fake lottery tickets to the lottery booths in and around Wariyapola and received money on this day alone.

The suspect is to be produced in Court.
