Suspect in Court cell cuts his neck with blade

A suspect being held in the jail cell of the Colombo Magistrate’s Court No. 4 on Monday slit his throat with a blade. According to a warrant, the suspect, who was presented to the Court by the Wellampitiya Police, took the blade and cut his own neck, saying, “I have been remanded again”. The suspect was arrested by the Wellampitiya Police in connection with a heroin case and was remanded after being presented to Court.

He was taken for medical treatment and his injuries were not serious, Police said.
