Suspect nabbed with 4kgs of Kerala cannabis

A bus commuter carrying two parcels containing 4kgs of Kerala cannabis was apprehended during a combined search conducted by the Navy and Police at the Sangupiddy roadblock yesterday.

The search was carried out by SLNS Welusumana in the Northern Naval Command in coordination with the Poonakari Police at the Sangupiddy roadblock. The suspect was arrested on a Mannar bound bus from Jaffna with the Kerala cannabis in his possession. The street value of the seized stock of Kerala cannabis is believed to be over Rs. one million.

The 26-year-old suspect, a resident of Analathivu Island in Jaffna was handed over along with the Kerala cannabis to the Punakari Police for further legal action.
